Polars finish fourth at Kamloops hoops tourney

Three senior girls high school basketball team trekked down to Kamloops for the 12-team Sabre Saint Classic tournament on the weekend with the Prince George Secondary Polars returning home with a fourth-place finish.

Three senior girls high school basketball team trekked down to Kamloops for the 12-team Sabre Saint Classic tournament on the weekend with the Prince George Secondary Polars returning home with a fourth-place finish.

The Polars fell in the semifinal to the 10th ranked Vernon Panthers 50-23 before losing the bronze-medal game 67-41 to Oliver. In the round robin, the Polars beat Norkam 53-49 and Summerland 43-41.

Meanwhile, the D.P. Todd Trojans finished eighth with three losses: 73-32 to the Panthers and 61-46 to Fulton. The Trojans also lost to Summerland. The Duchess Park Condors finished 10th, losing 65-55 to Fulton, beating Westview 71-29 and losing 59-55 to Norkam.

Sahali took the gold medal beating the Panthers 63-58 in the final.

Each Prince George school earned an all-star selection: Kelsey Videgain from the Polars; Tenley Pierce from the Trojans; and Cassie Rerrick of the Condors.
