On a hot night in Philadelphia, Prince George’s Jared Young joined a record-setting bunch of New York Mets bombers to contribute to an 11-4 victory.
Young’s third home run of the season in the eighth inning, a 441-foot rocket into the right-field upper deck, was part of the Mets’ seven solo shots in the game, which tied the Major League record.in front of crowd of 44,687 Saturday at Citizens Bank Park.
New York ended a season-high seven-game losing streak with their 15-hit attack.
After Brandon Nimmo started the home-run fireworks in the first inning, Francisco Lindor ended his 0-for-18 drought and Nimmo and Juan Soto hit back-to-back dingers to give the Mets a 4-3 lead in the third inning.
In the fifth, Soto swatted his longest homer of the season, hitting a Joe Ross pitch 437 feet into the right field stands.
Young went deep on Phillies reliever Michael Mercado in the eighth and Francisco Alvarez took the ball for a 451-foor ride over the left field wall in the ninth.
The seven home runs went a total of 2,911 feet, more than half a mile.
It was only fifth time in Mets history they’ve hit seven home runs in a game.
The Phillies won the rubber match of the three-game series 7-1 Sunday in Philadelphia to move one game ahead of the Mets atop the National League East.
Young got into the game as a pinch hitter with two out in the ninth and flied out to end the game.
The Mets begin a four-game series against the Atlanta Braves Monday at Citi Field in New York.
