When the 2012 Canadian judo championship kicks into gear July 5-8 in Toronto, Prince George clubs will be well represented.
The competition categories at the national championship include senior, masters, under-15, under-17 and under-20. Between the three local clubs -- Prince George Judo, North Capital Judo and Hart Academy Judo -- 14 athletes will head to Toronto.
In the under-15 girls and boys division: Grace Northrop (-48 kilograms, Hart), Juliana Bergstrom (-57 kg, Hart), Taylor Schaus (-34 kg, P.G.), Byron Laass (-42 kg, Hart), Connor Slooyer (-46, North Capital) and Kyle Wilkinson (-50 kg, P.G.).
In the under-17 boys and girls division: Melissa Nelson (-52 kg, Hart), Lavanna Laass (-57 kg, Hart), Kristen Yawney (-70 kg, P.G.), Chris Grilz (-60 kg, Hart), Nathanial Hirvi (-60 kg, Hart), Brandon Slooyer (-73 kg, North Capital) and Brendan Bellavance (-81 kg, Hart).
In the under-20 men's division, Quinn Clemas will compete in the -81 kg class, representing P.G. Judo.
