Prince George horseshoe pitchers had the sound of steel on steel ringing in their ears on the weekend.

At the Quesnel Open, local throwers topped the field in nine different divisions. Maurice Stern -- with wins in senior men's 30-foot and mixed A -- led the P.G. contingent, and Ida Boschman (ladies A, senior ladies) was right there with him.

Other winners were: Vic Vallee (men's A); Mike Cunningham (men's B); Kurt Brewer (men's E); Elaine Stern (ladies B); and Alice Laflamme (ladies E). Cunningham also posted a second-place result in men's A and was third in men's C. Herb Boschman was the third-place thrower in men's D, while Elaine Stern took second spot in ladies A and senior ladies. Ida Boschman was second in mixed A.
