P.G. Judokans medal at provincial championship

The B.C. Judo championship was held Saturday in Abbotsford with several Prince George judokans returning home with medals. Prince George Judo Club had 10 athletes place in the top four in their various categories.

The B.C. Judo championship was held Saturday in Abbotsford with several Prince George judokans returning home with medals.

Prince George Judo Club had 10 athletes place in the top four in their various categories. Bringing home the gold were Kristen Yawney (under-18, -70 kilograms), Taylor Schaus (U15, -34 kg), Tami Goto (U13 girls) and Sydney Edgson (U11 girls). Schaus added a silver medal in the under-15, -38 kg. Other silvers were won by Rafael Rodrigues (U13 boys) and Levi Price (U15, 055 kg).

Matteo Rodrigues (U11 boys) and Branden Edwards (U15, -46 kg) took bronze in their categories while Ryan Russell (U15, -46 kg) and Lisa Russell (U18, -52 kg) both placed fourth.

The Hart Judo Academy sent three athletes to the competition. Lavanna Laass brought back gold in the U18, -63 kg category and silver in the senior women, -63 kg category. Isaac Kamstra also earned silver in the U11 boys, -26 kg and Kimiko Kamstra took bronze in the U13 girls, -30 kg.
