In Salmon Arm, defenceman Daniella Calogheros and forwards Kyanna Prazma and Megan Watt helped the Wildcats beat the Wolverines 6-3 in the championship game of the female Under-18 B.C. Cup.

Meanwhile, in Kamloops, forward Donovan Law was part of a winning effort for the Stars at the male Under-16 B.C. Cup. In the final of that event, the Stars held off the Bruins for a 1-0 victory.

Calogheros, Prazma and Watt all played for the Bursey Buryn midget Cougars this past season. From the six-team B.C. Cup, 46 players will advance to a provincial camp -- also in Salmon Arm -- from May 19-23. At the provincial gathering, participants will be evaluated on their skills, fitness, strength and attitude and 23 of them will move on to a Team B.C. camp in early July. That camp will be part of the road that will take the club to the Under-18 national championship tournament in November.

Law did his work for the Integris Credit Union bantam Cougars during the 2010-11 season. In the B.C. Cup final against the Bruins, his Stars struck for the only goal part way through the first period.

The male B.C. Cup featured 10 teams. Now, 68 players will be picked for a provincial camp, June 29 to July 4 in Penticton. Ultimately, 20 will be selected to Team B.C. for the Western Branch Challenge, scheduled for late October/early November. The Western Branch Challenge is a tournament featuring elite players from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
