Mandy Botham is taking her basketball game back to the college ranks.

Botham, a former assistant coach with UNBC's women's basketball team, is now the new head coach of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University women's squad. The team, based in Surrey, competes at the provincial college level in PACWEST.

Botham is the current head coach of B.C. Basketball's Under-15 Red provincial girls team and, as head coach of the College Heights secondary junior girls squad for the last three years, led the Cougars to the 2015 north central zone title in March.

"It's truly an honour to have the opportunity to take this team into the future and be the next leader of this program," said Botham in a press release. "I am fortunate to be given a position to be able to influence and shape young women and future leaders in our community."

Botham's additional coaching experience includes assistant coach positions with Canada Basketball/Basketball B.C.'s Centre for Performance and Target Athlete Performance Programs, as well as with the U15 Blue provincial girls team that placed fourth at the 2014 Canada Basketball Nationals.

Botham is a former college player herself. She was a forward with the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves.

In Botham's rookie season, the Wolves were undefeated during the regular season and wrapped up the year with a bronze medal at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association's national championship.

Botham is expected to begin working with the Eagles next month.
