It's getting down to nitty-gritty time in the Northern Football Conference.

Semifinals are on for today at Masich Place Stadium.

In the early game at 4 p.m., the second-place Prince George Polars, owners of a 4-1 regular season record, take on the third-place Duchess Park Condors (3-2) in what promises to be a close game. The Polars won the only regular season meeting between the two teams, defeating the Condors 34-21.

In the 6 p.m. game, the regular-season champion Nechako Valley Vikings of Vanderhoof square off against the College Heights Cougars. The Vikings claimed first place on the last day of the season a week ago in a defensive struggle, edging PGSS 8-3. That gave Nechako Valley a perfect 5-0 record. The Vikings shut out College Heights 30-0 on Oct. 14.

The Cougars won their second game of the season last Friday, a 55-20 decision over the Correlieu Clansmen of Quesnel. The win clinched fourth place for College Heights (2-3). The Cougars finished ahead of the Kelly Road Roadrunners based on their 31-19 win over Kelly Road on Oct. 8.

The winners of tonight's games meet in the P.G. Bowl next Friday at Masich Place Stadium.

In other high school football news, the B.C. High School Football Association announced its Northern Conference all-stars in Thursday and Duchess Park quarterback Montell Lindgren and PGSS linebacker Alex Peet were the big winners, named the league's respective offensive and defensive most valuable players.

As the Condors pivot, Lindgren completed 27 of 42 pass attempts, rushed for 540 yards and threw for six touchdowns, with only one interception. Lindgren also lined up as a running back and rushed for 104 yards on 11 carries for two TDs.

Peet led the Polars with 22 tackles, two quarterback sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception. PGSS allowed 144 points in five games, second only to Nechako Valley, which gave up 119 points.
