Peewee Senators win another event

No matter what level, or even what sport, winning three tournaments in a season is an impressive feat. Even moreso when a team has only entered three tournaments.

No matter what level, or even what sport, winning three tournaments in a season is an impressive feat.

Even moreso when a team has only entered three tournaments.

The Prince George Crystal Glass Senators, a peewee Tier 1 club, boasts such a perfect record after winning a tournament in Valemount, capping the achievement by beating Quesnel 4-2 in the final.

Earlier this season, the Senators captured an event in McBride, and just after Christmas the squad took first place in the Ethan Blacker Memorial tournament in Prince George.

The Senators, coached by Garry Nielson, started the event with a 3-3 draw against Quesnel, with Nicholas Cyr, Alex Benny and Alex Nielson scoring the goals. In their second outing, the Senators exploded offensively for a 15-4 trouncing of Valemount, led by a hat trick from Joel Ingham and two-goal outings from Stewart Owen, Ben Pilon-Gladwin, Braydon Patapow and Alex Nielson. Ryan Tretick had six assists.

In their third game, the Senators edged McBride 4-3 with Jax Bailey scoring the winning goal and Liam Jamieson, the only goalie on the roster, posting his second win of the tournament. Then, in their fourth game, Prince George beat Clearwater 5-1 with Jamieson Parker scoring two of the goals.

In the final, Benny had two goals, including one short-handed, with singles from Evan Cutway and Tretick.

Other members of the team are Riley Lindsay, Quin Garrison, Ian Walker and Jordy Singh.
