Third time was the charm for the Prince George peewee Freightliner tier 2 Cougars.

After finishing with the silver medal at two consecutive tournaments the Cougars were finally able to nab the elusive gold medal Sunday in the Williams Lake tier 2 Rep. tournament. The Cougars posted a 5-0 record in finishing ahead of the six other teams at the tournament.

In the final they beat the Omineca All-stars 7-2 behind a stellar effort from game MVP Alex Schinkel in the Cougars' net. In the semifinal, James Lalikeas had a hat trick for the Cougars in an 11-3 romp over the Prince George tier 3 team.

During the round-robin play, Schinkel blanked Quesnel 3-0 and Omineca 4-0 while his goaltending partner Gaige Ridland led the Cougars to a 7-1 win over Burns Lake. Corey Cunningham had two goals in the win over Quesnel in Friday's tournament opener.

Next for the tier 2 Cougars is a tournament in Grande Prairie in December.
