Everything was clicking for the Prince George Lomak double-A Knights as the peewee all-star baseball club swept a doubleheader Sunday over Quesnel.

The Knights received timely hitting, cranking out a combined 32, and stellar pitching in thumping the visitors to Volunteer Park, 15-2 and 35-2.

The sweep improves the Knights to .500 this season with a 3-3 record, including going 1-3 in an April tournament in Chilliwack.

Knights head coach Jim Swanson said Quesnel's starting pitcher kept his team close in the early innings of Game 1 as the Knights only held a 4-2 advantage heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.

"We pulled away from there, but Quesnel pushed us and played very well," said Swanson. "That's a team that hasn't had much time together yet, and they were missing some of their top players due either to injury or family reasons on the long weekend."

In an act of sportsmanship, the Knights loaned Quesnel a trio of players to field a full lineup in the first game.

Swanson said the two teams will try to meet up again this summer with Quesnel for more exhibition games when the visitors can field a full roster.

This weekend the Knights head to North Delta for the three-day John Main Memorial Classic tournament, played at Sunbury and Annieville Parks.

The Knights are the 11-12-year-old all-star team from the Prince George Youth Baseball Association.
