The peewee Prince George female rep hockey team began their season with a second-place finish at a tournament in Williams Lake over the weekend.

The peewee Prince George female rep hockey team began their season with a second-place finish at a tournament in Williams Lake over the weekend.

After a 3-1 win over Kamloops, the girls edged their Williams Lake hosts 6-5 improve to 2-0, but the team couldn't overcome the Vernon girls. Prince George lost 6-5 to Vernon in the final round-robin game, before dropping the tournament final 5-1 to the same Vernon squad.

Tanel Boeckman had the hat trick for Prince George in the 6-5 win over Williams Lake, while Jordan Shanks had three goals in the tournament. McKenzie Muir and Talia Nahulak also contributed to the offence.

There was no peewee female team in Prince George last season.
