Peewee Cougars finish third in Abbotsford

Korbyn Chabot led the Prince George peewee tier 1 Viking Construction Cougars to a third-place finish at the Abbotsford Minor Hockey Peewee Icebreaker tournament Oct. 7 to 10. Chabot had 10 points in four games for the Cougars.

Chabot had 10 points in four games for the Cougars. In the team's 5-3 win over Kelowna Chabot notched a hat trick and added an assist and in games against Abbotsford and Victoria he contributed three goals and three assists.

Prince George opened the tournament with a 3-3 tie against their hosts as Matthew Ens made 25 saves. Single goals for the Cougars came from the sticks of Darian Long and Ryan Whitehead. The Cougars followed up the tie with an 8-0 win over Victoria - Devin Sutton and Mateo Albinat each had a pair of goals, while singles were scored by Jarin Sutton and Jeremy Gervais.

Against Kelowna, Bobby Legare and Austin Heidt had single goals for the Cougars, while Ens made 25 saves.

Jacob Sweet manned the Cougars' net against Victoria, making 15 saves, and in the 9-0 playoff loss to the North Shore Winter Club where he stopped 30 pucks.
