James Pederson was practically halfway to Quesnel when he lined up for his putt for dough on the second playoff hole at the Aberdeen Glen Men's Open.

And with one stroke of the club, the Quesnel golfer ended the suspense.

Pederson, a Quesnel resident, sunk the 40-foot shot on the 18th hole Sunday at Aberdeen Glen Golf Club to beat Will Gilbert for the tournament title.

Pederson, Gilbert and Blair Anderson each finished the two-round tournament tied at 152, forcing the first playoff hole on the par 5 No. 10. Pederson and Gilbert parred the hole, while Anderson had a bogie and was eliminated.

On the ensuing playoff on the par 4 No. 18, Pederson landed on the wide green with his second shot and knocked his ball into the hole to end with a birdie. Gilbert was left looking at his fourth shot from five feet away.

Pederson totaled 76-76--152 on the par 73 course. Gilbert shot 78-74--152 and Anderson scored 75-77--152.

The overall low-net winner was Ross Woodward with a 140 total.
