One race not enough for Kreitz

Nine kilometres of mountain bike racing was not nearly enough for Bobby Kreitz.

He still had energy to burn after finishing nine laps in the one-hour kids enduro race Saturday at the Otway Challenge.

"I could do more, I could go for an hour-and-a-half," said Kreitz, one of 15 riders in the second-annual race. "I like the endurance you have to have for this race. It's kind of fun and it makes my legs feel good."

The 11-year-old Kreitz is used to racing fast laps, but usually with skates on his feet. He's about to start carving ice in his fifth season with the Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club.

"This race is probably good training for speed skating," he said. "It'll beef up my legs so I can go faster. Speed skating races are usually quick. My longest race is 1,000 metres."
