Two tournaments, two silver medals.

How's that for consistency?

The Prince George Deloitte's Old Sticks put the warps on a successful summer of slo-pitch Saturday at the B.C. Seniors Games in Langley, where they lost 10-2 in the 55-and-older men's division championship game to the Fraser Valley Axmen.

"The guys hit the ball pretty well in the games we won," said Old Sticks player/manager Larry Mehrer. "The other team [Fraser Valley] plays a lot of ball in the States and they were a little younger than us. It's 55-plus and we have nine guys who are over 60 and they were a bit younger than us."

The Old Sticks advanced to the final in Langley after a 16-15 win Friday over Kootenay.

Their romp to the medal podium came less than two weeks after the Old Sticks claimed silver medals at the Canadian 55-Plus Games in Strathcona, Alta.

"It was quite a thing to go to one tournament and nine days later got to another tournament, so we were a little tired, but the guys were all really happy and worked really hard," said Mehrer. "Our goal was to make it to the gold-medal game and we did in both tournament , so we're satisfied."
