Meryeta O'Dine travelled to the southern hemisphere to win a snowboard cross title Friday.
Representing Canada, the 17-year-old Prince George snowboarder was golden in the Nissan South American Snowboard FIS Cup in Corralco, Chile.
She beat out Isabel Clark of Brazil who finished second in the big final and Chilean Antonia Yanes who placed third.
O'Dine is one of nine athletes who were named to Canada's national development snowboardcross team in July.
She had a stellar 2013-14 season on the Nor-Am Cup snowboard cross season, winning a bronze medal in her first race in Mont Tremblant, Que. in January, and six other top-10 finishes.
