Erika Morris is charging ahead with her future after she graduates from Prince George Secondary in the spring.

The 17 year old has committed to attend Camosun College in Victoria and play volleyball for the Chargers.

"I want to play university within the next year or so, but I though for me college would be a good transition rather than going straight into university," said Morris.

The former Polars' volleyball player received offers from several institutions but decided on Camosun due to it having educational programs, like criminology, she wants to study and having the opportunity to play for Chris Dahl.

"He's from Prince George and I worked with him [last] summer," said Morris. "He's just a really honest good guy and really organized and a really good coach. I agree with lots of his techniques and philosophies."

Last summer, Morris played on the Team BC volleyball team at the Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops.

Morris said after a year or two with the Chargers she'd like to head east to play volleyball at a Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) school, but for now she's looking forward to living in Victoria where she has family and close friends nearby.

" We'll see what happens over the next year," said Morris.

Since high school volleyball season ended in November, Morris said she's enjoyed relaxing, training a bit and just concentrating on school for the past month, but things are about to heat up again as tryouts for club volleyball were Jan. 10 to 12.
