The PGSS Polars are developing into a power in junior girls volleyball.

Two weekends ago, the Polars were golden at their own tournament. After their most recent court appearance, Saturday in Kamloops, they were awarded bronze medals -- a great accomplishment considering there were 32 teams in attendance at the Thompson Rivers University Junior Howler.

In the medal match, PGSS beat Vernon secondary 25-21, 16-25, 15-9.

"We really wanted to make the top 16 and our goal was a top-10 finish, so third was well beyond the goal we set," said Polars coach Jasen Florell. "My starting lineup has gelled so well the last two weeks. They're doing everything well -- they're serving well and being aggressive when they attack. And we've been putting a lot of work into our defensive coverage and it's being successful right now."
