Maybe the hoops in Alberta are bigger than they are here in B.C.

The UNBC men's basketball team, for the second-straight game, found twine with impressive regularity in hammering the SAIT Trojans 107-86 on Thursday to close out an exhibition tournament in Calgary.

A day after blasting Keyano College 106-50, the Northern Timberwolves got 24 points and 10 assists from Inderbir Gill to lead the onslaught. But the win over the Trojans, in the same gymnasium where UNBC won the national title last spring, also got production from Francis Rowe, who had 23 points and six assists, another 21 points and five helpers from Sebastien Louis, and 12 points from fourth-year post Denis Stark.

n The UNBC women suffered two losses in their final game at a tournament in Arizona.

The T-wolves lost 71-52 to Yavapai Community College at the Phoenix Cactus Jam, but the bigger concern might be a calf injury suffered by Christine Kennedy. The hope is the problem will only cost her a week or two.

Mercedes Vankoughnett, a second-year guard from Prince George, had 11 points Thursday to lead all UNBC players in scoring.
