In their season-opening games, the Bursey Buryn Cougars didn't get the results they wanted. They did do enough things well, however, that head coach Jason Garneau is looking forward to a successful season.

The Cougars, who skate in the B.C. Hockey Female Midget AAA League, faced the Kootenay Wildcats Saturday and Sunday at Kin 1. The Cats lost the first game 4-1 and then fell 2-1 in the rematch.

"I'm not really disappointed with the effort in either game," Garneau said. "They competed hard, they played well. We've got a bunch of new girls and some girls from out of town that haven't really played the systems that we use yet. We've got four more practices until our next league game so we're going to work on some systems and get some things straightened around."
