A minor hockey membership could lead to a major thrill for two lucky winners next month at CN Centre.

The Prince George Minor Hockey Association has teamed up with The Citizen and the Prince George Cougars to offer one male player and one female player a thrill of a lifetime when the Western Hockey League all-stars take on the Russian selects in Subway Super Series game, Thursday, Nov. 18.

The two selected players will receive four tickets each to the WHL-Russia game and will also receive a stick autographed by Cougars star forward and captain, Brett Connolly.

"It's going to be great for these young players," said PGMHA president Shawn Rice.

"It's nice to see The Citizen, the Cougars and Prince George minor hockey come together to create opportunities like this for the kids. It will promote a great event and it will get kids involved."

The two selected PGMHA players will also win four tickets to the Cougars-Edmonton Oil Kings game on Saturday, Nov. 6. They will get to meet Connolly, the Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick, before that game and will each have the chance to participate in the ceremonial opening faceoff before the game at CN Centre.

Every player in the PGMHA is eligible for the draw, which will be made during the Cougars' game against Brandon, Oct. 20.

There are at least three PGMHA alumni who could be picked to play for the WHL team, including forwards Connolly, Brett Bulmer (Kelowna Rockets) and Ryan Howse (Chilliwack Bruins). Defenceman Brandon Manning of the Bruins is a 20-year-old and is not eligible to play in the game.

The WHL roster is expected to be released next Wednesday.

Tickets for the Super Series game are now on sale at the CN Centre box office.
