Blake McIntosh plans to coach more lacrosse games than he coaches this season.
The chance to teach his own kids in minor lacrosse is going to take precedent over opportunities to showcase his own impressive talents as a playmaker.
Based on what he did running the floor Tuesday night in Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association's season-opener Tuesday at the Coliseum, that's not good news for the Shooters Pub Devils. His teammates are certainly going to miss him.
McIntosh scored three goals and set up two others in an 8-6 Shooters' win over the College Heights Pub Assault. Another Devils veteran, Scott Anderson, finished with a goal and six assists, while rookie midget callup Pierce Watson scored two goals.
Clarke Anderson was the big gun for the Assault, with four goals and two assists.
Steven Brizan turned aside 40 shots in the Devils nets, while Russill Mills made 47 saves for the Assault in his first PGSLA action after a two-year absence.
Shawn Ingham, a resident of Fort St. John who played in the league when it formed in 1991, made his return to the PGSLA, wearing a College Heights jersey. Another familiar face behind the mask was College Heights backup goalie Brian Stanley, who has come out of retirement this season.
Tonight at 8 at the Coliseum, the expansion Mackenzie LumberJax make their league debut against the Riverstone Pub/Regional Security Stylers. The LumberJax will also play Saturday at 8 against College Heights Pub, which follows the Bandits-Devils matchup at 6 p.m.
On Sunday at noon, the Mackenzie squad meets the Stylers.
