When it comes to lacrosse, Scott Anderson is well deserving of his role as the ringleader at this weekend's Prince George Masters Lacrosse skills clinic.

The 48-year-old veteran still plays the game at a high level and is a fixture in the lineup of the Westwood Pub Devils, the two-time defending champions of the Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association, who put up a 42-game winning streak until the string was snapped at the provincial championship last summer.

And when it comes to teaching kids lacrosse, Anderson is one of the first to volunteer.

He and several of his Devils teammates will be on the floor at Kin 2 this Saturday starting at 9 a.m. to share some of the secrets of the game with a group of novice players (10-and-under). From 10:30 a.m. to noon, the focus will be on peewee/bantam (11-14-year-olds).

The second novice session runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and the peewees/bantams return to the floor from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Registration forms are available at Players Bench, 2366 Westwood Dr. Cost is $35 per player.

Late registration will be accepted the morning of the clinic.

"This is just for the younger players to sharpen up their skills and how to better yourself as a player with sportsmanship and camaraderie," said P.G. Masters Lacrosse spokesperson Glen "Moose" Scott.

Devils goalies Jamie Bellamy and Chris Scott will show the young players what it takes to keep the ball out of the net.

The Devils open the 2016 PGSLA season on Monday, April 25 against the Cowboy Ranch Stylers. The league has expanded to six teams with the addition of the Mackenzie Lumberjacks, back after a two-year hiatus.

The other PGSLA teams are the B.X. Pub Bandits, Northland Nissan Assault and Quesnel M. Daniels Consulting Crossfire.
