Luedtke, a 20-year-old hockey player with the Prince George Spruce Kings, has committed to the University of Alaska Anchorage for the 2015-16 season. The University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves hockey team, an NCAA Division 1 squad, skates in the highly-competitive Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

Luedtke, a five-foot-nine 150-pound forward from Lynnwood, Wash., has six goals and 13 assists in 16 games so far this season for the Spruce Kings. His totals put him seventh overall in the B.C. Hockey League and second in team scoring.

Luedtke and the Kings hope to gain some ground on their Mainland Division rivals this week.

The 9-5-0-2 Kings are in Coquitlam tonight and Langley on Thursday in a pair of mid-week BCHL contests.

The Spruce Kings are coming off a three-game homestand on the weekend where they earned three out of a possible six points. The Kings scored a 3-1 victory against the Trail Smoke Eaters and fell 3-2 in double overtime to the league-leading Penticton Vees. On Sunday, Prince George suffered a 3-2 loss to Powell River.

The Chilliwack Chiefs lead the Mainland Division at 10-2-0-1 with 21 points, and prior to their game in Merritt Tuesday night were only a point ahead of the Spruce Kings.

The Langley Rivermen (5-4-1-3) are third in the division, while the Coquitlam Express (3-10-0-2) are in last place.

Prince George returns home Friday and will have six days to prepare for a three-game road trip to Trail (Nov. 7), Merritt (Nov. 8) and West Kelowna (Nov. 9).

The Kings' next home game is Wednesday, Nov. 12 when the Vernon Vipers visit the Coliseum for the first time this season.
