Grace Northrop, Lavanna Laass and Kristen Yawney now know where they'll be in February.
The three judokas from Prince George were selected on Saturday to compete for Team B.C. at the 2015 Canada Winter Games on their home mats at the Northern Sport Centre.
Northrop, who competes out of the Hart Judo Academy, qualified in the -52-kilogram female class while her clubmate Laass qualified in the -63kg division. Yawney, out of the Prince George Judo Club, qualified in the -70kg division.
They were among seven female athletes and seven male athletes to make the provincial team.
The Hart's Brendan Bellavance was named the alternate in the -100kg male category, while Kyle Wilkinson (-60kg) and Lisa Russell (-52kg) from the Prince George Judo Club were selected as alternates in their weight divisions.
Besides Prince George, the team is comprised of athletes from Nanaimo, Campbell River, Abbotsford, Richmond, and Kamloops.
The process to select the team began four years ago based on a development plan where athletes accumulated points for competing at various tournaments and attending provincial camps. It all culminated Saturday morning in fight-offs in each division and the team was then named.
The provincial team will now travel to the Qubec Open and the Ontario Open next month, with a training camp in between as part of its preparations for the 2015 Games.
