Local woman jailed on trafficking charge

A woman has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking in relation to a drug bust in South Fort George 19 months ago.

A woman has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking in relation to a drug bust in South Fort George 19 months ago.

Crystal Okimaw, 33, was issued the term in Prince George provincial court on Thursday. The sentence will be served on an intermittent basis.

Okimaw and Kenneth Raymond Thelland, 43, were arrested in May 2013 after police executed a search warrant on an 1100-block Cuddie Crescent home.

Heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of about $1,000 was seized, as was marijuana and drug trafficking paraphernalia, RCMP said at the time.

In October, Thelland was sentenced to time served and two years probation with a condition that he come no closer to Prince George than 100 kilometres.
