The College Heights Cougars and D.P. Todd Trojans tied for fifth place at the 16-team George Elliot Coyote Classic senior boys volleyball tournament, which took place in Winfield on the weekend.

In the playoff quarterfinals, the Cougars dropped a 25-19, 26-24 decision to the Sa-Hali Sabres of Kamloops and the Trojans lost to the W.L Seaton Sonics of Vernon.

The highlight of the weekend for the Cougars was a 25-21, 21-25, 15-10 win against Langley Christian, the third-ranked double-A team in the province.

"This was a great victory for the team, especially after starting the tournament 0-2," said College Heights coach Jay Guillet, whose squad is currently No. 4 on the B.C. list. "We came together as a team and showed a lot of confidence in each other, and yes, we are getting closer to achieving our goals."

Top-rated W.L. Seaton beat second-ranked MEI in the final.
