In the soccer hotbed of Italy, Edmonton Juventus gave a cool and collected performance and walked away with tournament gold. The win on international turf was a thrilling accomplishment for Prince George product Erica Lampert, who was a member of the Juventus club.
In the championship game of the tournament, played in Agropoli, Edmonton defeated Italy Juventus 3-2. The contest was decided in penalty kicks.
Lampert and her Under-13 teammates were in a pool with two Italian teams and one from Colombia. Edmonton went through the event with an undefeated record and also won a pair of friendlies against Memphis and Naples.
