Local junior teams on ice at curling provincials

Starting today, Falon Burkitt and Erik Leisinger will take aim at provincial curling titles. The Prince George Golf and Curling Club skips have their rinks in North Vancouver for the Tim Hortons B.C. junior championships.

Starting today, Falon Burkitt and Erik Leisinger will take aim at provincial curling titles.

The Prince George Golf and Curling Club skips have their rinks in North Vancouver for the Tim Hortons B.C. junior championships. Burkitt starts the eight-team women's bonspiel with an afternoon game against Carley Sandwith of Victoria. This evening, she'll take on defending champion Dailene Sivertson, also from Victoria.

Other rinks are skipped by Stephanie Prinse of Chilliwack, Corryn Brown of Kamloops, Jenn Gerow of Kelowna, Megan Mackay of Trail and Kesa Van Osch of Nanaimo.

Burkitt's team is rounded out by Laine Bourassa, Alia Dallas-Petersen and Stephanie Haddad.

In the eight-rink men's tournament, Leisinger will start things off by playing Victoria's Josh Hozack this afternoon. Tonight, he'll toss stones against Kyle Jackson of Delta. Other rinks are led by Cameron DeJong of Juan De Fuca, Jonathan Gardner of Vernon, Kael Kristjanson of Kamloops, Stuart Merrifield of Victoria and Justin Nillson of Kelowna.

Leisinger's teammates are Drew Dalziel, Logan Thideman and Robert Hough.

For both P.G. rinks, round-robin games will wrap up on Thursday. Champions will be decided on Friday.
