In her first season competing for the Kansas State University Wildcats in Manhattan Alyx Treasure has jumped ahead of the competition.
The graduate of D.P. Todd Secondary took first place in high jump at the Kansas State Invitational on Saturday with a height of 1.78 metres. Her attempt at 1.83 was unsuccessful.
On the previous weekend (Jan. 13) Treasure equaled her personal best jump of 1.83 metres - set four year ago when she was 16 - at a home meet for the Wildcats in the Big 12 region NCAA Division 1. In her attempt at 1.84 metres Treasure cleared it, but rattled the bar which fell after she landed.
The 19 year old competes in Canada for the Prince George Track and Field Club.
Treasure's next event is this weekend in Iowa followed by a meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico in two weeks.
