The past three days have been packed with hockey highlights for Seb Lloyd.
Lloyd, a 16-year-old forward for the Cariboo Cougars, piled up eight points in two weekend wins against the North Island Silvertips. Then, on Monday, Lloyd was added to the protected list of his hometown WHL team, the Prince George Cougars.
In the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League this season, Lloyd has nine goals and 33 points in 22 games.
"He has proven to be a dominating player in our league," said Cariboo head coach Trevor Sprague. "He's a great kid on the ice and off the ice and he's a great team guy. Everybody likes him and he's got a lot of character."
The Cougars faced the Silvertips in Nanaimo and prevailed 8-2 on Saturday and 5-3 on Sunday. In the first game, Lloyd finished with two goals and three assists. The next day, he scored two more and added a helper. Lloyd was skating on a line with Luke Gordon and Levon Johnson.
Needless to say, the trio clicked.
"We had a lot of success moving the puck," said Lloyd, listed at five-foot-10 and 165 pounds. "We made a lot of good passes and got pucks to the net and were able to capitalize when we got our chances.
"We're all skilled players and we make plays for each other," Lloyd added. "I've played with Luke for a while now, and with Levon earlier in the season, so we're all familiar with each other and the way we play."
Gordon and Johnson both found the net in the Saturday win as well. Other Cariboo goals came from Sam Brennan (2), Eli Jarvis and Chase Astorino. On Sunday, Justin Duncan, Tanner Fjellstrom and Chase Witala rounded out the list of Cariboo marksmen. Johnson, meanwhile, contributed three assists.
Winning goaltenders were Jared Rathjen (Saturday) and David Readman (Sunday).
The fourth-place Cougars (21-10-1) are now on a four-game winning streak. The Silvertips, with a mark of 9-15-6, are in ninth place.
At the end of the 40-game regular schedule, the top two teams will receive first-round playoff byes, while the third- and fourth-place clubs will host best-of-three quarterfinal showdowns.
The Cougars will take on the Okanagan Rockets Saturday (7:15 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m.) at Kin 1.
