LeBrun scores Kings OT winner

Jake LeBrun scored the overtime winner to give the Prince George Spruce Kings a 5-4 victory over the host Powell River Kings Friday night.

LeBrun's goal, his third of the season, came at the 1:24-minute mark of the second overtime in the B.C. Hockey League tilt, the second game of a four-game road trip for the Spruce Kings.

Prince George improves to 7-3-0-1 with 15 points to sit in second place in the Mainland Division, while Powell River fell to 4-4-0-3 with 11 points, good for third place in the Island Division.

Friday night on the Sunshine Coast, Powell River scored four unanswered goals in the second and third periods after the Spruce Kings skated out to an early 4-0 lead in the first meeting of the season between the two squads.

Trailing 4-0, Kurt Keats tallied twice while Jarid Lukosevicius and Jacob Pritchard tied the game at 4-4 in the third period for Powell River.

Prince George had a 4-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Braiden Epp, and single tallies from Chad Staley and Jeremiah Luedkte.

The Spruce Kings are in Nanaimo tonight to battle the Island Division-leading Clippers and Alberni Valley Sunday to wrap up their road trip. Prince George hosts the Penticton Vees Thursday (7 p.m., Coliseum), the Trail Smoke Eaters Saturday, Oct. 25 (7 p.m. Coliseum) and the Powell River Kings Sunday, Oct. 26 (3 p.m.).

Ice chips: Chilliwack (8-1-0-1) maintained its hold atop the Mainland Division with a 5-3 win over Coquitlam Express Friday night.
