Kenny Lally, one of the most decorated boxers in Prince George history, has decided to call it a career.

The 26-year-old Lally had planned to throw punches during a last-chance Olympic qualifier in a couple weeks in Baku, Azerbaijan. Instead, he'll skip the qualifier - which means he will not be on Team Canada for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His intention is to have the final fight of his career in Prince George in November.

"I've had an amazing career over the past 14 years," he wrote on his Facebook account. "However it has finally taken a toll on my body and mind."

Lally, a longtime member of Prince George's Inner City Boxing Club, competes in the 56-kilogram division. He is an 11-time provincial champion, seven-time national champ and also earned a bronze medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.

In March, Lally won his opening fight at an Olympic qualifying tournament in Buenos Aries, Argentina, but then lost in the quarterfinal round to Jose Diaz Azocar of Venezuela and was eliminated. In Lally's view, he won the bout, but the judges saw it differently.

Lally also came up short of qualifying for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
