The Prince George under-13 Kodiaks girls soccer team has been nominated for BMO's team of the week contest, but contrary to a story in Saturday's Citizen, they have not yet been selected for the weekly award.

Although nine teams have already been picked by the BMO panel, the Kodiaks will just have to keep their fingers crossed they will be among the 15 teams selected before the contest closes.

The BMO program was introduced April 1 and nominations will be accepted through June 30.

Teams selected each week are automatically eligible to win the grand prize of a $125,000 donation from BMO to improve the local soccer fields of the winning team, a trip to Vancouver to see a Whitecaps-Toronto FC MLS game, and a $5,000 donation to that team's charity of choice.

Other Prince George teams can go to go www.BMOsoccer.com to submit an essay, photos or video to demonstrate why their team should be picked the BMO team of the week.

From Aug. 1-15, people across the country can participate in an online vote for their favourite team. The team that gathers the most votes will win the grand prize.
