Knight ends gymnastics season in fine style

At the Canadian Linen and Uniform Service provincial championships Sunday in Langley, the Prince George Gymnastics Club (PGGC) member was 11th in the floor routine and 12th in the vault and finished 17th overall. Knight totaled 42.43 points, placing 13th on the balance beam and 18th on the uneven bars.

Caleigh Mayer of Coquitlam set the Level 5 open standard, claiming the gold medal with 50.66 points.

In other PGGC results from the provincial meet, Lina Goto placed 10th in Level 5 novice, totaling 45.09 points. Goto was seventh in vault, tied for 12th in bars, was sixth in beam and ninth in floor.

Brooklyn Nicholson was sixth in Level 5 tyro with 43.95 points (sixth in vault, fifth in bars, seventh in beam, seventh in floor).

Mary Kate Dalla Lana posted 20th-place marks in Level 4 open for an overall score of 43.10 points (seventh in vault, 23rd in bars, 14th in beam, 23rd in floor). In Level 3 open, Shayna McCormick was 12th in Level 3 open (45.50 points, eighth in vault, third in bars, 19th in beam, sixth in floor), and Jessica Friesen was 19th (41.56 points, 19th in vault, 10th in bars, 22nd in beam, tied for 10th in floor).

Jessica Pallot was 13th in Level 3 tyro (born in 2000) with 43.45 points (tied for seventh in vault, 15th in bars, 14th in beam, third in floor). In Level 3 tyro (born in 1999), Anna MacDonald was 14th (45.55 points, 22nd in vault, tied for ninth in bars, tied for 11th in beam, 19th in floor) and Rhiana Palfy was 23rd (43.00 points, 23rd in vault, 18th in bars, 21st in beam, tied for 23rd Floor).

Four Prince George gymnasts competed in the Level 2 novice class, including Jaymie Hinks, who was 15th (46.05 points, tied seventh in vault, tied for 28th in bars, 27th in beam, 15th in floor), Miranda Doerksen was 22nd (45.15 points, tied for 12th in vault, tie for eight in bars, tied for 30 in beam, 34th in floor); Tianna Millns was 34th (43.70 points, first in vault, 24th in bars, 42nd in beam, 16th in floor); Brook-Lynn Kinnee ended up tied for 38th (42.65 points, tied for 22nd in vault and bars, 44th in beam, 26th in floor).

In Level 2 open, Kimberly Marsh was 15th (45.00 points, second in vault, 13th in bars, tied for 21st in beam, tied for 19th in floor); Samantha Climie was 24th (43.20 points, 14th in vault, 16th in bars, first in beam, 29th in floor).

In Level 2 tyro, McKenna Parker was 22nd (46.60 points, 18th in vault, tied for 29th in bars, 21st in beam, 31st in floor); Mary-Kate Barwise was 34th (45.45 points, tied for 21st in vault, tied for 22nd in bars, tied for 29th in beam, 42nd in floor); and Naomi Little was 35th (45.25 points, tied for 32nd in vault, tied for 19th in bars, 45th in beam, 23rd in floor).

The boys from Prince George were in action as well on the gym floor in Langley. In the Level 3 under-13 class, Christopher Matthews placed 20th (56.70 points, 20th in floor, 19th in pommel horse, 17th in rings, tied for 16th in vault, 23rd in parallel bars and tied for ninth in horizontal bar). In Level 1, Brandon Hendrickson achieved a silver-level all-around score, while Colbey Simunac and Tyler Strizich each earned bronze-level all-around marks.
