In a tight game, Patti Knezevic's Prince George Golf and Curling Club rink came out on the wrong end of the score.
At the B.C. Scotties Tournament of Hearts women's provincial curling championship Tuesday afternoon in Cloverdale, Knezevic's foursome lost 7-4 to Marilou Richter of New Westminster. Richter picked up the only deuce of the contest in the third end and followed that up with a steal of one point in the fourth. That gave her a 4-1 lead. Knezevic got one back in the fifth and trailed 4-2 at the break.
In the sixth end, Knezevic stole a single point and was in good position for a comeback. But, Richter added one point to her total in the seventh end and then picked up a crucial steal of one in the eighth. Richter was back in the driver's seat, up 6-3.
The teams traded single points in the final two ends.
With the result, Knezevic slipped to 2-1 and Richter improved to 1-2.
Knezevic was back on the ice Tuesday night for a game against Allison MacInnes of Abbotsford. See playdowns.com for the result.
Knezevic won both her games on Monday, opening day of the 10-team tournament. She started with a 9-8 victory against New Westminster's Lori Olsen and then beat Kirsten Fox, also of New Westminster, 8-6.
Today at the Scotties, Knezevic will face Marla Mallett of Cloverdale and Simone Groundwater of Williams Lake.
The other members of the Knezevic rink are Kristen Fewster, Jen Rusnell and Rhonda Camozzi.
The B.C. Scotties runs until Sunday and is a qualifier for the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Feb. 16-24 in Kingston, Ont.
