Jujhar Khaira had a four-point night as the Prince George Spruce Kings held on for a 4-3 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at the Coliseum on Friday.

The Kings (23-17-2-4) rebounded from a 2-1 first-period deficit with a pair of goals in the middle frame of the British Columbia Hockey League game and then took a 4-2 lead early in the third period. The Silverbacks (15-25-0-7) were able to close the gap to within one but Prince George goalie Kirk Thompson held the visitor's at bay to secure the victory.

Khaira had a goal and three assists, while BCHL leading scorer Paul De Jersey had a goal and two helpers. Ben Matthews and Ben Woodley had the other goals for the Kings. De Jersey now has 38 goals and 81 points.

The win allowed the Kings to leap over the Chilliwack Chiefs (24-18-1-2) for third place in the Interior Conference. The Chiefs were 5-1 losers in Penticton on Friday as the Vees (41-3-0-2) ran their win streak to 29 games - tying the BCHL record held by the New Westminster Royals. The Vees can break the record with a win Tuesday in Chilliwack.

The Kings and Silverbacks play the second game of their weekend doubleheader tonight at 7 p.m. at the Coliseum.
