Myles Fitzgerald had two goals as the Prince George Spruce Kings overcame a two-goal deficit Sunday to beat the Westside Warriors 3-2.

Fitzgerald's second goal came with less than five minutes remaining in the British Columbia Hockey League game in front of 672 fans at The Coliseum. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Kings ( 12-11-1-3) and gave them a split of their doubleheader with the Warriors (9-14-0-4). Westside won the opener Saturday 3-2.

Michael Betz had the other goal for Prince George, playing his second game for the Kings' since the signing as a free agent Dec. 2. The 19-year-old forward from Kelowna previously played 56 games in the BCHL split between the Trail Smoke Eaters and Penticton Vees, collecting 39 points (17 goals).

Betz also played 32 games in the Western Hockey League for the Spokane Chiefs.

Ty Swabb picked up the win in his first start in the Kings' net since being acquired from the St. Albert Steel of the AJHL in exchange for Edmonton product Stefan Bazer - who was subsequently dealt back to the Sherwood Park Crusaders, the team who traded him to the Canmore Eagles in October - last week. Swabb made 34 saves.

Paul De Jersey had a pair of assists for the Kings on the weekend to bring his season total to 48 points (23 goals) and leaving him five points behind BCHL scoring leader Connor Reilly of the league-leading Penticton Vees (23-3-0-2).

The Kings host the Merritt Centennials (15-7-2-4) Friday in their final home game before embarking on a six-game road swing beginning Saturday in Westside and Sunday in Salmon Arm. Game time Friday is 7 p.m.
