The Prince George Spruce Kings traded a 20-year-old forward on Tuesday in exchange for another 20-year-old forward.
The Kings sent Brent Lashuk, a Kelowna native, to the Powell River Kings and acquired Jarryd Leung, a six-foot, 175-pound player originally from Victoria.
"Jarryd is a hard-working player with a lot of skill," said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes. "He shoots the puck very well and will be a great fit for us in both ends of the rink. He will step right into our lineup and provide stability in both ends of the rink and be a good veteran presence that is always good to have."
In 14 games with Prince George, the six-foot-two, 210-pound Lashuk collected five goals and five assists. He was in the early stages of his second season with the Spruce Kings.
Leung was also in his third season with Powell River, and after 14 games also had five goals and five assists. His best season with Powell River was the 2013-14 campaign when he scored 19 goals and 16 assists.
Leung will join his new teammates Thursday in Coquitlam when Prince George battles the Express.
