When the Prince George Spruce Kings face two of the top British Columbia Hockey league teams on the road this weekend they shouldn't have any trouble filling the net.
The Spruce Kings have four of the BCHL top-10 scorers, heading into their game tonight in Penticton against the Vees and Saturday versus the three-time defending BCHL champion Vernon Vipers.
Leo and Gerry Fitzgerald, Paul De Jersey and Jujhar Khaira lead the Spruce Kings with four points each - Leo has three goals.
After a opening weekend split with the Merritt Centennials at The Coliseum - a 6-3 win Sept. 23 before dropping a 4-3 game the next night - the Spruce Kings will have a few new players in their lineup when they confront the Vees (1-1), in the first of three games between the Interior Conference rivals in the next week, tonight at 7 p.m.
Monday the Kings traded defenceman Jesse Ursic, 18, to the Victoria Grizzlies in exchange for forward Michael Colantone, 20, and future considerations.
Two days later, the Spruce Kings learned Chase Golightly, a 19-year-old defenceman was returning to the junior-A squad after spending the last few weeks with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL. Golightly will join the Kings in Penticton.
Spruce Kings games are broadcast on the www.bchl.ca website.
