Assuming they all play this B.C. Hockey League season for the Prince George Spruce Kings, you'll need a program to tell them apart.
The Fitzgerald triplets -- Myles, Leo and Gerry -- who celebrate their 18th birthdays on Aug. 26, were acquired last week in a trade with the Nanaimo Clippers. The Kings also picked up in the deal 17-year-old Jesse Ursic, a six-foot-four, 200 pound defenceman.
Just like the Sedin twins, the Fitzgerald boys are identical. They also share equal dimensions, all five-foot-seven and 150 pounds.
They were linemates as 17-year-olds, playing a full season with the Clippers in 2010-11. Gerry played 60 games, totaling eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points. Myles picked up 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 60 games, and Leo collected seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 52 games.
Ursic played in 42 games as a Clipper in 2010-11, collecting three goals and four assists.
In exchange, the Kings sent forward Trevor Fitzgerald (no relation to the triplets), and defencemen Scott Milnthorp and Josh Bryan, all future consideration acquisitions who played for other junior A teams last season.
Trevor Fitzgerald played 58 games for the the RBC Royal Bank Cup-champion Vernon Vipers, picking up seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points. Milnthorp scored three goals and added three assists in 45 games for the Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL, while Bryan saw 43 games of action for the Victoria Grizzlies, collecting five assists.
The Kings also announced a trade with the Trail Smoke Eaters to acquire six-foot-four, 210-pound defenceman Ben Matthews in exchange for forward Todd Skirving. Matthews played 54 games for the Smokies in 2010-11, totaling four goals and 11 assists for 15 points and 66 penalty minutes. In 49 games with the Spruce Kings, Skirving had eight goals and nine assists for 17 points.
In one other deal with the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL, the Spruce Kings added forward Paul DeJersey in a trade for future considerations. DeJersey, a 19-year-old, played 43 games last season for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, totaling eight goals and nine assists as well as 21 penalty minutes.
The Kings' training camp starts Aug. 26. They open their 40th season as a junior team on Sept. 23 at home against the Merritt Centennials.
