The road to the provincial high school wrestling championships takes a detour today through Kelly Road secondary school.
A total of 140 wrestlers from northern B.C. will converge on the Kelly Road gymnasium for an invitational tournament that starts at 9 a.m.
The event is one of several on the high school wrestling calendar this year, leading up to the provincial championships in Coquitlam, Feb. 24-26.
Wrestlers will compete according to their respective weight classes. The provincial classes are as follows:
Boys -- 38kg, 41kg, 45kg, 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 74kg, 78kg, 84kg, 90kg, 110kg, 110kg and more (to a maximum of 130kg).
Girls -- 34kg, 40kg, 43kg, 47kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 75+ (to a maximum of 90kg.
