The Prince George Cougars saw their two-game win streak come to an abrupt end Wednesday, thanks to a 5-0 pasting at the hands of the Kamloops Blazers.

Josh Pillar scored twice and finished with three points to lead the Blazers (7-1-0-0) who won their third-straight. Daylan Kuefler, Inaki Baragano, and Caeden Bankier also scored for the Blazers. Dylan Garand only had to make 16 saves for his first shutout of the season.

It was a long night for Prince George, as the Blazers outshot the Cougars 40-16, including 20-2 in the third period. Wednesday marked the second time in eight games the Cougars were held off the scoresheet. Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 35 saves.

The Cougars are winless in three games against the Blazers and have been outscored 16-5 in the season series. They’ll try to get back in the win column on Friday when they play the Victoria Royals.
