The Prince George Cougars came up with a noble effort that earned them a 3-2 shootout victory Friday night in Kent, Wash.

Charles Inglis scored the only goal of the shootout to nail down the victory and end the Cougars' six-game losing streak. Drew Owsley, the game's first star, made the save off Marcel Noebles to end the game.

The T-birds (10-11-0-1) appeared to have the Cats on the ropes when, at 13:30 of the third period, Noebels potted a rebound on a power play.

But with just 38.2 seconds left and Owsley on the bench for the extra skater, Inglis got his stick on a point shot from Martin Marincin and the puck went in to force overtime.

The Cougars struck first, just 55 seconds into the game. Greg Fraser took an errant puck off the end boards and had time to skate into shooting position to beat Calvin Pickard. It was Fraser's seventh goal of the season.

The Cougars dominated the opening five minutes and had the T-birds under siege, outshooting them 6-1 at one point, but ran into a string of penalties that swung momentum in Seattle's favour.

Jacob Doty collected his first WHL career goal 3:30 into the second period, taking a pass from Branden Troock to tie the game 1-1.

Owsley gave the Cougars a huge lift 17:46 into the first period when he used his glove to swallow a wrist shot on a penalty shot attempt from Burke Gallimore.

The T-birds outshot the Cougars 34-29.

The Cats (7-17-0-2) wrap up their three-game road trip tonight in Spokane against the Chiefs.
