As Jaymie Hinks winds down her gymnastics career, she's showing she still has that competitive fire.

Hinks, who will retire at the end of the season, secured a third all-around finish at the provincial championships in Langley on the weekend. In the Level 7 (1998-2000) category, she delivered strong performances on the balance beam (silver) and vault (bronze) on the way to overall bronze. Hinks's final meet will be a hometown event, the Prince George Invitational, May 13-15.

In terms of medals, Hinks was the most successful of the Prince George Gymnastics Club members who attended provincials. However, local athletes did combine for some impressive results. Individual medal winners included: Sadie Bricker (Level 6, 2003), silver on vault; Kaylee Oberg (Level 6, 2003), bronze on bars; Jade Jacobs (Level 7, 2003), silver on bars; Dallyn Long (Level 7, 2002), bronze on vault).

In other PGGC news from provincials, Alia Wilson placed fourth in her category's all-around standings and earned a spot on Team B.C. for the Western Canadian championships, set for Delta in May. In her best individual results, Wilson (Level 9, 1997-2002) finished fourth on bars and seventh on beam in a field of 21 athletes.

Top individual finishes for other local athletes were: Madison Willier (Level 6, 2005), fifth on bars; Kayla Hanson (Level 6, 1998-2001), fourth on vault; Samantha Thomas (Level 7, 1998-2000), fourth on beam; Rhiana Palfy (Level 8, 1999-2001), eighth on floor; Lane Oke (Level 3 male, ages 8-12), 10th on high bar.

The Prince George contingent at provincials included Ilyana O'Beirne, Madison Boomhower, Farrah Normand, Rachel Massey, Kaitlyn Muir, Sydney Hamilton, Mataya Auxi, Gyongyi Kiraly and James Clendenning.

MacDonald tops in trampoline

Trampoline athlete Anna MacDonald soared to gold and silver medals against B.C.'s best.

MacDonald, a 16-year-old who trains at the Prince George Gymnastics Club, finished in first place in Level 4 (16-and-over) trampoline at the provincial championships. The meet was held in Langley on the weekend.

MacDonald also competed in double-mini trampoline at provincials. She entered the Level 5 (17-and-over) category - which is national-level - and placed second overall.

Earlier this season, MacDonald qualified for the national championships in double-mini trampoline. She'll attend nationals May 29 to June 4 in Edmonton.

One of MacDonald's clubmates, Kayla Hanson, also earned a medal at the trampoline provincials. Hanson (Level 2, 14-and-over) came home with silver.

Meanwhile, Brook-Lynn Kinnee - one of the first P.G. gymnasts to take up trampoline - used these provincials as her going-away party. The meet was the last of her competitive career and she finished fourth and fifth in trampoline and double-mini respectively. Kinnee was in the Level 3 (15-and-over) division.

Caroline Kinnee, Emily Mann, Ilyana O'Beirne, Emma Sands and Caleb Emon also represented Prince George at provincials.
