Raymond Grewal was the Cariboo Cougars nominee for player of the month for December in the B.C. Major Midget League, but it was the Vancouver NW Giants goaltender Braden Krogfoss earning the nod.

Krogfoss was 3-0 with a 0.33 goals against average and two shutouts in December and was instrumental in helping the Giants ascend the standings to put a stranglehold on first place. One of Krogfoss' key wins came in Prince George as he made 29 saves in a 2-0 shutout of the Cougars in the final weekend before Christmas.

The Giants (19-3-6) lead the Cougars (17-7-4) by six points.

This weekend the Cougars host the last-place Kootenay Ice (2-21-3) at Kin 1 (Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m.), while the Giants visit the Fraser Valley Bruins (11-12-5).
