Forward Brooklyn Hutchings notched two goals and an assist in the final against the undefeated Burns Lake Bruins, a game the Gators lost 6-3.

For her efforts, Hutchings was named player of the game. She was also the top scorer in the seven-team tournament with 12 goals in four games.

The Gators, the only all-girls team in the competition, skated to a 2-1-1 overall record.

"The entire team played so well," said Gators head coach Bobby Hutchings. "Our goalie, Victoria [Schinkel], made some phenomenal saves to keep us in the games, giving our players the opportunity to compete for a win. It was just a great weekend."

Assistant coach Ken Schinkel agreed.

"The girls played beyond our expectations," he said. "You never know what you are going to go up against in these small-town tournaments. Overall, they just played incredibly."

The Gators compete next at a female tournament in Prince George Dec. 20-21 where they'll meet Terrace and two teams from Dawson Creek.

Players on the Gators include: Amy Goetken, Ashley Schulli, Asia Gill, Brienna Olsen, Brooke Norkus, Brooklyn Hutchings, Brooklynn Parker, Cricket Colebank, Emily Ferguson, Emma Watson, Grace Chmelyk, Jayden Kraska, Rachel Munger, Rylee Beach, Stacia Leclerc and Victoria Schinkel.
