With an emergency call up from the bantam hockey team in net, the Prince George midget female Cougars earned three of a possible four points in their first two home games of the season.

Avery Quiring earned the 1-0 shutout win for the Cougars and backstopped the midget team to a 1-1 draw against the Pacific Ravens in B.C. Major Midget Female League games at the Coliseum and Kin 2, respectively. Quiring was a replacement for the Cougars regular goalie who is recuperating from injury.

Ava Keis scored the lone goal for the Cougars in Sunday's shutout win while Madison Fjellstrom had the goal for the home side in Saturday's tie.

Cougars coach Stewart Malgunas said the girls worked hard all weekend against a team that had only had one blemish on its league record prior to their trip to Prince George.

The Cougars head to Kelowna this weekend for three games against the Pursuit of Excellence school, two Saturday and one Sunday.
