PRINCE GEORGE -- Marc McNulty and Brett Roulston had the goals and Mac Engel picked up his first win as a Prince George Cougar in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the road weary Brandon Wheat Kings.

It was an early Halloween for the 1,806 spectators at CN Centre as they were treated to an entertaining finish as the Cougars outshot the Wheat Kings 5-2 in the extra frame before the game ended in the shootout with each team sending out five shooters.

The two rookies gave the Cougars a 2-0 advantage but the Wheat Kings tied it up with a pair of goals in the final frame - a power-play marker by Chad Robinson and a point shot from Colton Waltz that beat a screened Engel.

Brandon began the overtime period with a man advantage for 1:40 but couldn't beat Engel. Cougars Jordan Tkatch had a shorthanded breakaway but couldn't beat Curtis Honey.

Jayce Hawryluk gave the Wheat Kings an early advantage in the shootout scoring on Engel. Caleb Belter scored to keep the Cougars alive and then Zach Pochiro put the home team ahead. Engel stopped Eric Roy to secure the win.

For the Cougars (7-7-1-0) the win is their second straight while the Wheat Kings (7-6-2-1) head home after a 14-day road trip where they finished with a 2-4-1-2 record. The Cougars outshot the Wheat Kings 49-28.

The Cougars are off until Friday when they're on the road for a pair against the Kamloops Blazers followed by a visit to Kelowna on Saturday.
